My Scratch Project was about recycling in 2 different communities and I wanted to find out how much people recycled weekly and monthly so I asked all the people that lived in Meadows and Springs in my class to see how much they recycled. I also wanted to put my survey on a community website but there was no community website and I also tried to put it on a Facebook page but I wasn't able to.I could have improved my research if I was able to put it onto these websites so more people would answer the survey and I could know more about what the people do in the community. With my survey research that I took from my class, I found out that people did recycle but not that much at all and sometimes they didn't recycle every month. I then saw that I needed to increase awareness to the people living in these communities and I would do that by putting posters around the community about recycling and also giving them a link to go to my blog and watch my animation about recycling. I was not able to put up the posters as I had to move to a different place but I was still able to do the animation and show a lot of people. I then had to come up with an idea of my animation and how exactly was I going to actually create it, so I had to then make a story board showing what I was going to do. I had to make to different ideas and in my first one I showed 8 different scenes. These are my 8 scenes: My project and what is recycling, What is going on in the community, How can you help the problems, how many people are recycling and how much, What is going on in the world, Where is the waste going, Fines on Recycling and Raising Awareness. My other story board had only 4 scenes with more details, It was talking about: Recycling, Problems in Communities, Solutions and World/ Awareness. I chose my first idea since it was more spread out and easier to do. I could have improved my storyboard that I chose by adding more detail into it like saying what codes I was going to use from scratch, what background I was going to use for each scene, what sprite I was going to use, What colours would be used, would there be any music or speech, would there be words and also talk about what exactly I was going to say. If I had included all these things in my storyboard, I could have made my scratch project more informative and with more use of scratch to show my knowledge and make it easier for me to actually make the final product. As I went on with finishing my storyboard, we then had to start making our final scratch project. I knew exactly what I was doing and it worked in the end it all worked very well together because of the good storyboard planning as well. The animation had a lot of information and it talked fully about recycling, the solutions, world problems, etc... The final project was very good but there were also many ways in which it could have been improved. Firstly let me tell you what was good about it, there was music which played constantly to entertain the person watching which was one of the new skills I learnt on Scratch, there was also dialogue that was coming out of the sprites mouth that I had to type up and the people would be able to read it, I also had different backgrounds and I had one bit of speech at the end. Now there were many improvements that I could have made with the presentation, Firstly, I could have increased the time of the message that was being spoken to the person watching so that they had more time to read it and they did not have to rush. I could have also instead of the person reading the message, instead I could have just recorded my voice and the person would be more relaxed and they would just have to listen to me talk. I could have also added more backgrounds that would be suiting each single different thing that I was talking about to show off more of my skill and it would make it more entertaining. One of the main things that I could have improved could be to change the sprite since it was the same throughout the entire presentation and also make it move around to make it more fun. I then could have also added in some of the results that I got from the survey that I took and then the people watching could know exactly how much people are recycling and what is going on. I could have also made sure to check my spelling for no mistakes because there might have been around 1 or 2 mistakes in the speech. I could have maybe also managed my time much better by spending more time on my scratch project but due to the fact that I did not have Wi-fi during I was moving I was not able to do much at the end other then adding music and a little bit of speech. If I had to do my project again I would do all these things and I would have also made sure to do my research on a bigger scale next time for better results leading to my final presentation to be much better. I think I did very well during this scratch project even with the pressure of time and I could have also made many improvements to achieve a higher level but there's always a next time!
